John Lennon's second solo album delves into a mixture of confessional songwriting and muscle-bound rock with total focus. If his previous Plastic Ono Band album was all about exposed, raw nerves, then Imagine is a more about finding comfort within the madness. The title track is an almost hymn-like ode to understanding while "How Do You Sleep" is lyrically scathing. From the heavy pleas of "Gimme Some Truth" to the album's closer, the autumnal "Oh Yoko," this album showcases his passions and talents while giving glimpse to the man underneath.
